Austin Ice Bats End-of-Year Update: Finishing the First Half Strong
As the year comes to a close, the Austin Ice Bats are taking time to reflect on a busy and exciting first half of the NA3HL season. With a packed schedule and strong competition, the Bats showed consistency, resilience, and growth on the ice. As a result, the team heads into the new year in a strong position.
Showcase Recap: Competing Against the Best
Although the NA3HL Showcase did not go exactly as planned, the Ice Bats still earned 3 out of 6 possible points. More importantly, the team competed hard against top programs from across the league.
First, the Bats opened Showcase play against the Great Falls Americans. The game remained close throughout. However, Great Falls scored in the final seconds, giving the Bats a narrow 4–3 loss.
Next, the Ice Bats faced the Minnesota Moose, the second-ranked team in the league. Once again, the Bats battled until the end. The game went into overtime, where Minnesota secured a 3–2 win. Still, earning a point against one of the league’s top teams showed the Bats’ ability to compete at a high level.
Finally, the Ice Bats closed out Showcase play on a strong note. Against an old familiar regular-season opponent, the Texas Roadrunners, the Bats delivered a dominant performance. They earned a convincing 7–2 victory, ending their time in Minnesota with momentum.
A Demanding First Half of the Season
The first half of the season was demanding. In fact, the Ice Bats played 37 of their 47 regular season games before the holiday break. Additionally, the team had only one off weekend, which came during Thanksgiving.
Despite the heavy schedule, the Bats produced impressive results. Through 37 games, the team recorded:
-
24 wins
-
11 losses
-
1 overtime loss
-
1 shootout loss
Because of this performance, the Austin Ice Bats currently sit 1st in the NA3HL South Division.
Holiday Break and Gratitude
At the moment, the Ice Bats are enjoying a well-earned break. Players and staff are spending time with family and loved ones. Meanwhile, the organization would like to thank fans, billet families, sponsors, and community partners for their continued support.
From everyone within the organization, we hope you had a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
