Harrison Feeney Joins the Austin Ice Bats

Welcome Back to the Colony!

Hockey is almost back in Central Texas, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome everyone back to the Colony for another season of Austin Ice Bats hockey.

The Austin Ice Bats are proud to announce Harrison Feeney as the organization’s new Head Coach for the 2026–27 season. After a historic 2025–26 season that saw the Ice Bats reach new heights on and off the ice, we’re excited to begin the next chapter under Coach Feeney’s leadership. We can’t wait to see how Harrison Feeney builds upon the foundation established last season and leads the Austin Ice Bats into another exciting year of junior hockey.

Harrison Feeney’s Playing & Coaching Experience

Coach Feeney arrives in Austin with an extensive background as both a player and coach. A native of Minnesota, he developed through the junior hockey ranks, spending time in the USHL as well as playing in the NAHL with the Lone Star Brahmas.

His junior hockey career earned him the opportunity to join the University of North Dakota, one of the premier NCAA Division I hockey programs in the country. During his four seasons with the Fighting Hawks, Feeney trained in one of college hockey’s most respected programs while competing alongside and against future professional talent.

Following his collegiate career, Feeney continued playing professionally in Sweden with Ånge IK and IFK Arboga IK, gaining valuable international experience before transitioning into coaching. Most recently, Harrison Feeney served as an Assistant Coach for the NAHL’s Minnesota Mallards during the 2025–26 season, helping develop players competing at one of the highest levels of junior hockey in the United States.

His experience as a junior player, NCAA Division I student-athlete, professional goaltender, and NAHL coach provides a unique perspective that aligns with the Austin Ice Bats’ mission of preparing players for the next level.

Joshua Malin Continues as General Manager

As the organization enters this new chapter, Joshua Malin will remain a key part of the Austin Ice Bats. Joshua is stepping aside from his role as Head Coach and will serve exclusively as General Manager, where he will continue overseeing hockey operations, player recruitment, and the long-term direction of the organization.

With Joshua continuing as General Manager and Harrison Feeney taking over behind the bench, the Austin Ice Bats are well-positioned to build on last season’s success and continue moving the organization forward.

Excitement Builds for the 2026–27 Austin Ice Bats Season

With Harrison Feeney leading behind the bench and Joshua Malin continuing to oversee hockey operations as General Manager, the future is bright for the Austin Ice Bats.

The organization is excited to welcome players, families, billet families, sponsors, and fans back to the Colony for another unforgettable season. We can’t wait to see Coach Feeney continue building on last season’s success and help the Austin Ice Bats reach even greater heights during the 2026–27 NA3HL season.
