🏒 Austin Ice Bats Persevere in El Paso Series & Gear Up for Halloween Pink Out Weekend

A Weekend of Perseverance in El Paso

This past weekend wasn’t the easiest for the Austin Ice Bats, but the team showed heart, determination, and true perseverance. Traveling to El Paso for a three-game series from October 17–19, the Bats dropped their first two games against the Rhinos but fought hard to end the losing streak with a big Game 3 victory, sealed by a game-winning goal from Jared Breunig.

The team’s resilience and drive were on full display, proving that the Bats know how to bounce back and finish strong.

The Return of Garrett Morris

A major highlight of the weekend was the long-awaited return of Garrett Morris, who hit the ice for the first time this season after recovering from an early shoulder injury. His performance was nothing short of impressive — earning an assist in Game 1, another in Game 2, and scoring a goal in Game 3 to help secure the win.

Garrett, who serves as an Alternate Captain this season, continues to step up as a leader on and off the ice. The team is thrilled to have him back, and fans can look forward to a full captains announcement coming soon!

Rising Stars: Nash Bryant & Michael Lane

Two young players made their mark this weekend — both hailing from the AMHA Texas Junior Stars program and making their debut seasons with the Bats.

Nash Bryant celebrated a milestone moment, earning his first NA3HL point with an assist on Liam Cardona’s goal. He also saw his first Power Play time in Game 3, showing confidence and skill we look forward to see further develop as the season goes on.

Meanwhile, goaltender Michael Lane had a standout performance in his second NA3HL game, facing 44 shots on goal and holding strong with a 0.909 save percentage. Lane’s composure in net and quick progression have fans excited to see what’s next for him as he continues to grow with the Bats.

Both Bryant and Lane embody the spirit of player development within the Texas hockey community, and their transition from the AMHA Texas Junior Stars to the Austin Ice Bats showcases the depth of young talent coming up in the program.

Call Up Updates: Guhnar Hillman Returns, Jimenez Moves Up

The Bats are also gearing up for the return of Captain Guhnar Hillman, whose call-up with the Minnesota Mallards has officially concluded. Hillman’s leadership and energy will be a welcome boost for the team.

Meanwhile, Dylan Jimenez will not be returning to the Ice Bats as he continues his journey in the NAHL. The organization is incredibly proud of his development and wishes him continued success at the next level.
